The University of Minnesota TROE Center (Turfgrass Research, Outreach and Education) is a 12-acre facility located on the UMN Saint Paul campus in Falcon Heights focusing on sustainable turfgrass research, including drought tolerance and low-input management. It is a premier site for cold-climate turf studies, featuring both sand-based and native soil rootzones. This Field Day is focused for those taking care of sports fields and parks.

Field Day topics include:
  • Winter desiccation and ice damage recap
  • Dormant seeding research update - seeding rate, timing, and weed control
  • How is your water source affecting pesticide performance?
  • Strategies for reducing shade stress
  • Seed mixtures for increasing drought tolerance
  • Species and cultivar selection for parks, sports fields, and grounds
The Field Day takes place Wednesday, July 1 from 10 am - 12 pm at the Turfgrass Research, Outreach, and Education (TROE) Center. Check-in will take place from 9:30-9:50 am, with opening remarks beginning at 10:00 am. 
 
Directions: 
The address is 2037 Larpenteur Ave W, Falcon Heights, MN 55113. You access the center by heading north on the gravel road just to the west of the Falcon Heights City Hall.

Lunch will be provided at the Wed., July 1 UMN Field Day at TROE Center. This is a free event for MPSFMA members and co-workers, however, registration is required so we have an accurate lunch count.
